DeepChem Minutes

Bharath was not available for today and yesterday’s DeepChem meetings as he is getting married! Ashwin and Seyone took minutes for this week’s calls.

India/Asia/Pacific Call

Date: May 28th, 2021
Attendees: Ashwin
Summary: Ashwin has continued working on the USPTO loader. He has uploaded the MIT dataset to S3. He has also fixed the flake8 warnings for the molnet directory and has opened the PR for it.

Americas/Europe/Africa/Middle East

India/Asia/Pacific Call

Date: May 28th, 2021

Attendees: Peter, Seyone

Summary: Peter was busy this week, so no major update on his end.

Seyone put up a PR addressing a minor (issue)[https://github.com/deepchem/deepchem/issues/2519] raised by a user in the DC SmilesTokenizer implementation, due to a deprecated argument in Huggingface’s transformer repository. The CI didn’t pick this up as it is using an older version of the transformers library, so Seyone mentioned that we should bump up the version used by Github Actions.

Seyone is working on a fix to the normalizing flows tutorial, as it doesn’t work anymore due to updated utilities for converting SELFIES to and from one-hot encodings. He has got most of the tutorial working but is running into a bug with converting generated samples back to SELFIES strings.

As a quick reminder to anyone reading along, the DeepChem developer calls are open to the public! If you’re interested in attending either or both of the calls, please send an email to X.Y@gmail.com, where X=bharath, Y=ramsundar.
